Subject: RE: Nike + sport band??I had the Nike+ system back when I signed up on BT over a year ago and I loved it. The sports band obviously wasn't out at that time and I don't have one now, but I can tell you that it was very accurate. I calibrated it on a 4/10 th mile indoor track on the longest distance you can choose [I think 1.25 miles] and after a 10 mile run I think I measured 10.1 miles. One thing I did notice though was if I ran faster, it wouldn't calculate me as running as fast as I was [checking watch splits on 1/10 th mile markers on the trail vs. the Nike+] so I think whatever speed you run when you calibrate is going to be the most accurate. I also don't own Nike+ shoes so I attached the sensor to the tongue of my shoe using duct tape.
The sports band sounds like a cool deal but I figure for $60 you can spend a little more and get a refurbished Nano for a similar price, have tunes to listen to if you want, or you can use it sans headphones if the conditions don't permit. I podcast 4 different shows so the Nano is a must for me, will definitely get another one when mine dies on me. Also with refurbished iPods from Apple you get the same 1-year P&S warranty that you'd get if you were buying the brand new model. This came in handy as my wife likes to wash electronics items [her Nano, my cell phone] so they replaced hers at no charge - not even shipping! |
