Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey, Donks! First of all, thanks to everyone who has generously volunteered their time to help out on race day. I know it will be a looooooong day and many of you have other commitments as well, so thanks. Please note that I still have an open position for a camera person-- I would prefer that person not to have any other commitments for the day so there won't be any additional worries with handing the camera off, responsibilities, etc. However, if I can't find a person without other commitments on race day, I'll have to look at how we can split those duties up between two people. In addition to the plan below, I'll need DeannaS to coordinate with Scott Goehner about picking up Scott's truck early Sunday morning. Deanna, I'll contact you separately to set up a place where we can meet so I can just jump in the truck and we can head out to the bike course. Here is my plan as it stands: Rich Wakeup/Swim - I need someone to hold me a good vantage point spot from which to shoot SWIM START! (Force? Aidana?) 4:30 – 6:45am: Bodymarking, Transition set-up, Swim warm-ups and final interviews 7am: SWIM START (tight shots) 8:15am – 8:45 am SWIM IN Bike (DeannaS driving) - need to establish a pick-up point so we can get out on course quickly 10am: Garfoot Rd. climb, hopefully shooting out of back of truck 11am: Old Sauk Pass Rd. hill climb - repeat these sections on 2nd loop Run - I’m on bike 2:30pm: Camp Randall in/out, if possible 3:15pm: Bascom Hill 4pm: Inspiration Station 5pm: Howard Temin Bike Path 6pm: FINISH LINE Pete Swim 6:15am: in prime position to shoot SWIM START(wide) and first swim loop Bike – go directly to BIKE OUT and be in position 8:15am: Shoot BIKE OUT 10:15am: Get to Verona, shoot festival/SPECIAL NEEDS bike hand-off 2pm – 3:00pm: Shoot BIKE IN back at Monona Terrace Run 3:30pm – 5pm: Shoot Run SPECIAL NEEDS RUN BAG HAND-OFF/Interviews 6pm: Be in position to shoot FINISH AmyJo Bike 10AM: Be in position at “The Hills” (Old Sauk Pass Rd.) to shoot all subjects riding climbs Run: 1:30PM: Be in Position at RUN OUT to shoot subjects exiting 2:30PM: Only if possible, get to and shoot CAMP RANDALL IN/OUT Cameraperson #4 (TBD)-- I'll supply camera! Bike 10:30am: Be in position in Verona to shoot FESTIVAL/SPECIAL NEEDS BIKE HAND-OFF 2PM - 3PM: Be on STATE STREET to shoot runners. After all pass, go immediately to HENRY STREET TURNAROUND (3PM) 6PM: Be in position to shoot FINISH LINE In addition, I know Josh Cowdy's father will be on the course shooting footage for us. But considering that he'll want to primarily be following Josh throughout the day, I didn't want to assign him any specific duties. Please let me know your comments, questions or if you are willing to help out! Rich |

Iron Donkey![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Scooby - just a note for ya. I was the running Marshall in Camp Randall back in '05 and '06, and I remember that they did not allow anyone in Camp Randall unless you were the assigned running Marshall wearing the volunteer shirt, IM athlete participant, an officer/EMT person, the lead running Marshall, an official IM staff person (photographer included), IM food delivery volunteer, UW Camp Randall coordinator, or assigned UW Camp Randall security personnel. Since this is not a UW-sanctioned event, they don't supply security and such. This eliminates possible problems with the general public. Good luck if you can get in. You should be able to get footage of the athletes going in and out the tunnel, though, being outside the gated area where they enter towards Camp Randall. |

Yep, I figured as much. The above was all I was planning on getting. Thanks for confirming that, though! |
