Subject: RE: Rail Trails Near Long IslandHave you considered rocky point?
Although the Rocky Point trails are known as fast, technical single tracks, there are actually a few family trails there and the trail heads are clearly marked as long as you park in the "25a west" parking lot. If you need directions let me know. But, basically, take the LIE to exit 63- (cr83 ) go north all the way to the end and you will be at 25a. Take 25a east for (Id guess ) 6 miles or so. Pass over Rocky Point rd. (7-11 and Kohls on the corner ) continue east onto the 25a bypass and the parking lot is about .25 miles from there... really easy to spot on the south side (right hand side ) of the road. From the parking lot, you should be able to easily spot the family trail heads. They are relatively wide, flat and smooth. |
