Hello!
This morning I met with my coach to go over a few things, recap of the season
(ups and downs
), workout, nutritional, and strength training plans for the off season, and my goals for next season.
Together we came up with excellent goals for next year, as follows:
He wants me to compete in several big time sprints, rather then just the local ones, so that i can see what it feels like to be in a pack during the run rather then all alone.
(so that will incorporate some traveling!
)
Improving in all three disciplines: he told me I have alot to gain because we have been working together for only 4 months and before that i was by myself training for 5 months, so i dont really have a huge base. He told me that the threshold workouts in which i have done will not compare to next springs and summers tough workouts
(his description was that they will be the really tough puke ur brains out type!
)
He told me he would like for me to do group rides of 30k to get the feel of riding in a pack, every once in a while. I'm going to do TT's , 5 and 10k's, along with TT's in the water, to break the race down to an individual level during the off season.
Times: We discussed that for the swim i should be able to do 1:30 per 100m avg and less, really pushing for 1:20's per 100m. On the bike he feels that in a year he will expect nothing less then 24mph avg. And on the run I want to bring it down to 17:30 and lower to maybe 17 mins even for 5k.
Total time: and we both agreed this was a stretch, but finishing a sprint in 50 minutes even.
To compete in an Olympic or two.
Were going to look into this, but my A race of the season looks to be the USAT National Sprint Championships.
Future Goals: We spoke about doing an ITU race that allows amateurs. He feels that i have a great chance to break 2hrs in an Olympic Tri. We spoke about ITU and the 2010 Olympics in London.
It was a great meeting and I cant wait for the next season and the seasons to come.
