I guess the subject says it all. I'm thinking of upgrading my aerobars... what are the advantages/disadvantages of these two sysytems.

The real difference is going to be adjustabilty. Some integrated bars can be adjusted, though. Integrated tend to be lighter setups. But if you don't like the base bar or the aerobars you're kinda stuck.

Most integrated systems are geared more for speed than comfort. Typically with s bend or straight aerobars.

Thanks.

So... since I am not going for a Kona slot or an IM world championship podium finish anytime, EVER, would it be safe to say that the adjustability and comfort of clip ons on a base bar is more important than the speed gains supplied by an integrated system?

Is my train of thought making sense?

Yes you're making sense. If a setup isn't comfortable you may not even save any time ieven if its more aero because of the inabilty to generate power.

In a perfect world you could get a FIST fitting and then find the aero bar setup that allows you to ride in your optimum position, be it integrated or clip-on.

But, really the only "wrong" choice would be a system that prevents you from attaining your optimum fit. But you probably already knew that.
