Has anyone put aero bars on a mountain bike, or is this a crazy idea? I'm new to tri's and I need to buy a bike. A mnt bike is more practical for me but for tris, I would want to put on slicks and if possible, aerobars.
I have never seen them before.
I don't know how well it works but there IS a lady that has aero bars on a mtn bike at the bike trail that I train at. It looks odd but hey- if your comfortable what the heck?
The geometry on a mtn bike may cause you to be a little uncomfortable. A road bike will move you closer to the aero position with more comfort. I would suggest seeing if your local bike shop has a old set of aero bars they will let you try to adapt.
