Anyone from Eastern PA area thinking about trying either of these races? I'm considering one but would not want to travel alone!

My buddy has done savage man several times. he says it's a tough course but the hill climb is wild. I'm thinking of doing it just for kicks. I'm gonna use my road bike it has a triple crank set which will make that hill no big deal...

Thanks for the info. Can't decided this year or next? Better decide soon, few spots and pending price increase! I think the road bike is the safe bet to check it out for the first time. The people that make fun of your triple will be wishing they had one up Westernport! If you decide to go for sure, post something on here, maybe it'll kick me into gear!

I decided that the Savageman HIM would be my first. If you decided to do it, let me know. It would be great to know someone there to suffer through it with!

I went out over the weekend of the 25th/26th of July to check out the bike course. It's relentless. I'm a relatively strong cyclist and the hills simply hurt. Never had I ever had to walk before. And it doesn't matter whether you have a triple or compact ring set - after a mile of climbing - you will feel it.
