I run continental (Duraskin) Gatorskins on my 650's and have not had any problems with them.  I have < 1000 miles on them but so far no problems at all.  Actually my LBS recommended them and some of the guys there run them also.  I mounted one (front) and the LBS mounted the other (rear while I was getting a bike fitting).  No problems, just usual tire levers.  I do wet the inside of the tire just a tad (hold over from my days working at a gas station mounting car tires) and usually don't have major issues.

My Tri bike runs 650c wheels, I use Conti GP4000S on there with no real hassle getting the tires on. I have a cheapo set of Ritchey training wheels and a set of Velocity Deep-Vs, both are about the same to get the tires on.

I just ordered the Michelin Pro Race 3 because they had excellent reviews (and it's what the bike came with).  I'm sure they're more expensive - because they're Michelins - but I've always run Michelins (Speedium Blue/Yellow) on my road bike and they've been good to me.
