I just did my first sprint tri this weekend and I think I want to make the jump to an Oly this year. Anyone have any recommendations for a well organized, fun, or otherwise good race to do?

I do lake/pond swimming, so if it involves ocean I'll have to start training for that.

I live in Newburyport (north shore) so looking for stuff within a several hour drive.

Plymouth oly is September 5th. Its an ocean swim in a protected harbor. Very nice venue. Well run race.

It/s not an Oly, but the sprint tri in Concord, NH on 9/12 is really good.  .5 swim, 15 mile bike (and It's all up hill LOL) and a 5K run, out and back on a dirt fire road.  I did it last year when I got closed out of Hyannis.  This year, I signed up intime for Hyannis, but if Concord was on a different weekend, I would do it again.

Edited to add:  If you're looking for another Sprint, Greenfield MA the first Sunday in August is really good too.  If you think you'll be ready, they do offer an Oly too.  The swim is easy in that its not very deep in the river, even though its called a 'pool'.

I've done Lobsterman in Freeport, ME the last 2 years and I love it. The swim is in Casco Bay, so it's the ocean, but I didn't do any specialized training and the only thing different I noticed was that the water was salty. The bike is beautiful, as is the run, and the race is great all around - it's one of my favorites. The post-race lobsterbake (with beer!) certainly helps in that regard. It's in mid-September.
