Subject: Breck 7/23-26 - need babysitter and rides!
Hi -

The whole family will be in Breck this weekend - Hubby is in adventure race on Sat.
I'd like to mtn bike ride w/in these 4 days - he'll be tapering and then racing on Saturday.

Anyone want to put some MTB miles in any day but Saturday? Preferably NOT on the paved bike trail (where I'll be spending all the time with the kiddos and gazillion tourists).

Also would like to know if any locals have recommendations for babysitters. I've seen the babysitter organizations - they charge $20 and up per hour. Nutso. And I don't even know these people at all. Is there a local org that isn't just after all my money? A BT'er with a broke teenager? My kids are 7 and 3 - pretty fun, actually, and very active - I just can't take them on single track yet.

I'm from the Springs and bike a decent amount - altitude is not an issue.

We're staying at a nice Breck resort - would need sitter definitely for Saturday night (8ish 'til latish), plus possibly Friday for me to ride, maybe dinner time... vague, I know, will know better as week progresses.

TIA

OK - found bonded/licensed/insured sitter service w/enough flexibility for what we need.

Now I'd just like someone to ride with so I can go off on fun single track for a bit but not on my oddyknocky. If I have to I'll just bike at Breck's trails as long as I don't have to pay just to bike up then down again!

I do not want to ride on the paved paths.

I have no idea what any of the above means but if you want to ride the best trails at Breck I suggest you find the "Firecracker 50", "Breck Epic", and "Breck 100" race websites. They'll have maps of their routes on their sites and those routes will be some of the best mountain bike routes that we have here.

oddyknocky = alone (clockwork orange) Just didn't want to go riding on trails I'm not familiar with by myself.

Turns out it doesn't matter anyway - at the last minute a team member can't come so I'm racing after all and a cousin is going to be our babysitter. So this whole thread became unnecessary in about 10 minutes last night

We accidentally rode parts of the Breck 100 trails last week - putting that one on the calendar for next year and have saved the route maps for fun rides. So that was good advice - thanks.
