Subject: Need a place to swim!

Anyone know a good lake to practice OWS in around the Brandon, MS area? Just got a new wetsuit and want to swim in it a time or two before my next race in Sep (Augusta 70.3). I know the res is around, but was unsure if it's open for swimming from the shore. Thanks for any help!

You can swim in the rez. (If you want...me...I avoid the gators and goo.) Quite a few folks do. Probably want to go early to avoid boat traffic. I know you can get in by the Hobie Cat cove or boat launch on the Madison side. Not sure where on the Brandon side, though.

I swim in the Rez a lot.  Well, I used to.  I've been a slacking swimmer lately.  As Karen said, we'd get in over in "hobie cove" where the Heatwave starts.  It's by the boat slips off of Madison Landing Circle.  You just fight the geese off then swim down the shore wall.  It's half a mile down and back.  We swam out there on Sunday afternoons a lot getting ready for New Orleans.  Shoot a message to this guy:  aplohris  He went out there with me a good bit.

I won't be going this weekend, tailgate season gets kicked off ya know, but maybe the Sunday afterwards.  I got a new swim skin I wanna try out.

Thanks for the help. I went out to the Rez for a short (very short) swim on Sunday afternoon, and got in close to the YMCA.  I think I will try out the boat landing for the next time.
