Subject: sprint race hear rate?
Hi,

I'm wondering where peoples heart rates are for a sprint race in relation to your AT or max.

I read somewhere (that I can't find again) that the swim should be below AT if possible, bike 20bpm below and run 10bpm below.
Is this for training or for an actual race?

HR is completely diff for everyone. the better trained you are/your race style will dictate what % you can race at.

in a sprint race i am very near my threshold for the swim, at it for the bike, and often over for the run.

That's great info thanks.

I was not sure about spending time over my AT during the race, even though I know it's dooable as I sometimes run over AT at the gym for 5-10 mins of a run and regularly exceed it for short bursts mountainbiking.

my swim for sprint is z3 starting to touch z4, bike z4, run z4-z5.....i start the run running as fast as I can and just try to maintain pace.  i never measured my HR but just go by perceived exertion....

i am always afraid to blow it up on the swim...since i am not the strongest in the water...yet
