Pine Barrens Timing
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 35m
Overall Rank = 133/156
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 5/6
Pre-race routine:

Woke up really early because I couldn't sleep. Ate a bagel and drank a cup of coffee. Drank approx. 40 oz of water in the am. Gel before the race
Event warmup:

Brisk walk around
Swim
  • 17m 12s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 57s / 100 yards
Comments:

Ahhh.....had to swim a little out of the way to round the second buoy. Water didn't feel nearly as bad. Really glad I wore my lycra swim cap underneath the one they gave me.
What would you do differently?:

Sight my navigation a little bit better.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Horrible transition. Couldn't get my helmet buckled (even though I practiced that a billion times), couldn't get my shirt on, just took way to long, probably 3 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

wear a tri top so I didn't have to put on a shirt, practice, practice practice.
Bike
  • 1h 35m
  • 24 miles
  • 15.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Was thirsty going into my run, really need another chamber to hold water.
What would you do differently?:

I was really happy with my times since I hadn't really done anything as flat as this course. Without buying a new bike, I would have to say...nothing other than practice more.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Pretty good transition, had trouble racking bike.
What would you do differently?:

practice racking bike
Run
  • 39m 58s
  • 4 miles
  • 09m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

I really needed a drink a mile into the run and the first aid station wasn't until the 2 mile mark.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the bike
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was faster than my swim times and bike times, the run I was pleased with considering the surface.

Event comments:

Not the best organized considering it was my first race. I had fun and I'm now a triathlete. I beat my goal by 10 minutes and I didn't come in last!!!!!! Way to go to me.

Nice job!  That run course is brutal.  I haven't done that race in ages, but I see they haven't chnaged the run.  Just think of it as building character, and the next riathlon you do the run will feel sooooooooo easy!
