Subject: Leg pains when running
I have always been very active and grew up running (probably every other day, but never more than 2 miles).  I had pretty bad i-ban problems about 5 years ago and quit running all toghether, but keep active in other ways, ice hockey, swimming, biking etc.  In the past two years I also developed a knee pain that wouldn't go away.  It is located between the top of the shin and the bottom of the knee cap.  I have been to an orthopedic (VERY GOOD DR.) and they did x rays, MRI and it shows nothing.  I have had two shots of cortisone over two years (first one worked for year) the second didn't.  It hurts when I walk up and down stairs, squat or run.  I also just have over all pains when I run all over my legs and hips etc.  I am semi young, 37, and not really overweight (5' 8") at 173 lbs.   I do stretch really well and the pain I don't think is muscular, but more bones, joints etc.  My knee hurts when I play hockey, but I don't have the rest of the pains.  I do have new shoes, and they are good ones.  I went to the running store and they taped me.  Now the guy did say that he has Never seen anyone supinate more than me.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Can't help with your running injury, but I've got eye strain trying to read that small font.  Maybe try posting this in the injuries forum.

I am so not a professional but that sounds kind of like Osgood Schlatter's, which my husband has...although most people get it as an active child while their bones are still developing.  But he still has pain at 27 and it's located in that spot you described.  It's a problem with the tendon and bone.

I have Oscar Schlotter's disease, this hits during your growing years.  Took me out of most sports for years during my teens. I was allowed to swim so I have that to thank for kicking in the swim in all these tri's   At 37 your not developing it now, I suggest you go talk to about 5 more Dr's, try finding ones that specialize in sports medicine.

By the way OS tends to get better over time, now at 40 I have no issues with it at all.
