one of my best friends has a lot of unsecured debt and is considering calling one of the debt relief organizations for help.
I have a bad feeling in my tummy about those guys but wouldnt know how to warn him against them or even if i should...
Anyone dealt with any of them before?

Never dealt with them before, but I hear it puts a black mark on your credit for a long time. I assume this person does not own a home? Otherwise a Home Equity Line of Credit, or some other way to get a loan to consolidate these debts would be a much better way to go. Sometimes you may have to just suck it up, get rid of some assets, and use whatever money you can make (from selling a car, motorcycle, boat) to pay down these cards. We are talking credit cards right?

Tell him: Don't do it!

Print this and give it to your friend: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/debt/DebtConsolCompanies.shtml- ideally he should go to the URL and follow the links himself.

Then print this one:
