Extreme Veteran 348   Honolulu, HI |  Subject: Memento thread... (spoilers)So I suspect I'm about the last person on Earth to see this movie, which I finally did last night.... Great stuff, but wow, confusing as hell towards the end!! Curious what you think of it all... ... are Sammy and Lenny the same person? Was it really Lenny who inadvertantly gave his wife an insulin overdose? Or was is just like Teddy said - that they already found and killed the right guy but Leonard just can't remember? And what about the scene at the very end that shows Leonard with his wife (alive) and he's got all the tattoos already, including the one over his heart saying "I did it"!?!?!?! WTF??! I thought he said first (but I haven't seen this movie in ages, and I'm not sure.) Anyways I think the ending was more to show that Lenny created his reality, he used his illness to support the worldview that he found most palatable at the time (hence the altering of the polaroids, etc.) instead of actually dealing with the hard facts of his life. I don't know...I need to go watch that movie again. You could always ask the movie freaks on imdb.com though, they'd know. |
