Hey you Minnesotans. I am looking to backback a portion of the Superior Hiking TRail the third weekend of Oct. So far I am solo (which won't make the family happy) so if anybody is up let me know. Most likely a Wed - Sunday trip 16.2 miles.

I'd give it some thought if you're ok with me bringing the dog and a shotgun, I love those grouse, and if I'm lucky and find some birds, you would eat like a king. That said the dog has a little arthritus so she's not as fast as she once was.

If you are serious, let me know. I have to check, I might already be in Duluth for a hockey game/salmon fishing. Better enjoy the Superior hiking trail while you can, they just voted to open it up to ATV's. If you are interested I could point you in the direction of a few spots to catch your dinner-salmon run should be peaking about that time.

Good luck,
Jay

Jay,

I'd have no problem with either one (dog or hunting). We wouldn't even have to hike all day together if you wanted to hunt I could push on to the next campsite and make sure we get a pad. As for the arthritis and the dog so do I (have have had 2 partial knee replacements) so I am no speed king. I live in Delano so we should get together and talk it over. I try and go pretty light weight (easier on knees). It is gourgeous country and I could use a little time in it (and away from the teenage daughters and my job). Let me know - you can always PM me.

I checked with my wife last night and it's a no go. She has a business trip to Palm Desert and no I don't get to go, and I got "the look" because we'd miss each other and she'd have to have a grandparent take the girls until I got back.

But, if your ever interested in some fun country running, I have a few spots mapped out between Mound and Delano and after I get my bike, now looking like spring, why buy it just so I can look at it all winter, we could meet up around Watertown. I've gotten the word from my "biking" friends that a tri bike with aerobars isn't welcome in their group rides. So keep in touch.

Where do you train in the winter? We've been looking at a family Membership at Waconia, huge pool, decent fitness area and under $400 a year. Just curious, think I pull that trigger in the next month or so, depends on how soon we see snow.

Good Luck,
Jay
