Pre-race routine:

Woke up. Ate a banana as I walked to the race. It was a very, let's say, crisp morning.

Comments:

My goal was to beat my time from last Sunday, and I did (by 11 seconds, but still). I'm satisfied enough.
What would you do differently?:

Work my way up farther in the pack so that it didn't take me so long to get started. I had seriously finished the first mile before I was able to get anywhere close to going my own pace.

Event comments:

There were NO water stations along the whole route. I thought that was kinda odd. But oh well. Didn't get to stay for all the after-race things because I had to get to work (I was actually late because of this race, but oh well). The Homecoming parade looked like it would have been a lot of fun though. I will definitely do this race again next year, and maybe it could become a nice homecoming tradition? We'll see.

Performance: Good
Course: Flat run around the CSU campus. It was a little crowded, but it was ok. There weren't any timing chips, so I'm not sure how accurate my time is. But when I crossed the line the clock said 27:34, and my official time is 27:29. So I'll go with my official time. I know my time probably would have been faster too, but it was a mass start, and it took a long time before I was actually able to get out of the crowd and go my own pace. I had to walk part of the beginning because of the crowd and nobody was moving. It was highly annoying. So I could have done better, but oh well. Guess next time I'll be more assertive and start farther up in the crowd.

Great race, even with the slow start. It's amazing how much energy you expend zigzagging through all the people. Although it sounds like you had fun and that gives you two green squares for the month. Great job.
