Since October, I have been traveling a lot more than normal for work (right now I am in Wichita, KS). It has really cut in to my time spent on the bike and I have to be extremely careful about what I eat while I am on the road.

With my work schedule, it is hard to make it to Spin classes at the Y, so I spend most of my time running at local parks, because I hate stationary bikes and running inside. This has been good for my run training and for building up endurance, but I am afraid that I am going to get clobbered by bike when I do my first multi-sport race of the year (Feb 5th - 5K/20 Mile/5K).

I think this is compounded by the major downside of my traveling - missing seeing the faces of the two most beautiful girls in the world (see pics below).

Anyone else travel and succeed at training or struggle with cetrain aspects of it like I do?

I was a road warrior for 6 years.

You're wise to watch what you eat. Our bodies are not meant to eat in restaurants night after night. Once you've reached frequent guest status with your hotel, ask if they have a kitchenette suite - most properties have one or two, and you can cook for yourself.

Running is easiest - either on the hotel treadmill or on trails nearby - make sure to ask at the desk for safe areas. Also ask about guest passes for nearby healthclubs. You probably already know that your Y membership is good at almost every Y in the country.

A bungee system like swimcords (www.swimcords.com) will help you get a good workout in a small pool.

Good luck with the travelling. I know it's hard with a little one at home.

Im away from home for work right now and hoping to make a better job of it this year than last year.

Like you I prefer to run outside so that helps. Plus Ive found a community pool near by which also has spin bikes and weights so I will improvise using those..

Eating is my biggest issue but i always try to stay somewhere with a fridge, take my own brekkie and snacks plus stick to a sandwich for lunch. Dinner is tough but if I keep training I seem to come out of it not as bad off as I used too...I hope!

its still a learning process...Good Luck!
