Subject: Hostage "Release" in Iraq

Not trying to spark a debate on our role in Iraq.  I just got annoyed after reading the following two articles:

The NYT article on the rescue of 3 hostages.

The Press Release from their organization

Now I understand you're opposed to the multinational force, but gimme a break.  You were not "released", your were rescued... people who you say shouldn't be there risked their lives to come get you.

Now I am NOT saying that they should suddenly turn around and say how wonderful they are and your opinion was wrong all along.  A simple "thanks" would be nice.  If you're going to go out of your way to not villify the people who kidnapped and starved you (and tortured and killed your friend) you could at least acknowledge that they didn't let you go...

Oh well, c'est la vie.

They may have used the word "released" as to not bring more harm on others held captive or incite revenge or further issue with their folks still in the area. They have most likely shown their appreciation in private. At least, I hope so!!! Unfortunatley, it seems like the troops are holding a thank less job of late.

Update:

In the interest of fairness, I did just hear on "Today" that the British gent did thank those "involved in his rescue".
