Subject: Importing multiple plans?

This year I'm planning on multiple races, where race days will overlap with training plans for later races, and I thought you could import plans such that they would automatically "mesh" together.  Maybe this isn't the case.

 

When I tried importing plans using race days as end dates, it seems that only the last plan imported survives.  The entire plans are deleted; even periods where there is no overlap.

I checked articles, searched on this section, couldn't find anything.

You should be able to import and overlap multiple plans.  Though it won't 'mesh' them.  What happens if there is an overlap, the most recent plan gets put in on top of the overlapped part.  To control for overlaps, adjust the date range (Import Weeks X through Y) so that you don't get an overlap and accidental rewrite of the first plan you imported.

Though tell me the plans you want to import and the race dates...I can verify in my log.

Intermediate HIM - 16 week race date: 7/8/12

Intermediate 10 week - HR OLY race date: 8/19/12

OLY-HIM Bridge 12 week race date 9/9/12 (optimistic, hoping to qualify on 7/8/12)

Allright, I started importing your plans and here is the problem:

I assume the two HIM's are A races?  Your first HIM comes right on the heels of your first Oly.  So essentially you would have about 2 weeks on the HIM plan for taper.  Technically you will be racing your Oly while starting your HIM taper.  What you should do is this:

1 - IMPORT THE Intermediate HIM - 16 week race date: 7/8/12.  So the plan will start on 3/18/2012.

--> for the OLY race date: 6/24/12, just manually adjust the 'race week' for a taper if desired as you are on the HIM Plan.  If you are qualifying for the 7/8/12 HIM race, just make the 6/24/12 Oly a 'training day'...keep it easy...don't trash yourself for the HIM.

2 - THEN IMPORT either the last 8 weeks (7/9/12-9/9/12) of either the 16 week HIM plan or the 12 week Oly-HIM Bridge plan. (use the 16 week plan again if you liked it.

*Make sure to adjust the 'Import weeks X through Y' - the X number,  so that the prior HIM plan does not get overwritten.  You can leave an 'empty' week after the first HIM plan...just for recovery, informal workouts.

See if this makes sense.  I did this with only the 16 week HIM plan per the dates above and got a nice volume graph for both races.
