Beautiful yes, hellacious uphill bike over Donner summit followed by a hair raising downhill yes, cold swim yes and all at altitude makes for a tough race....

It was my very first Tri two years ago when we were in Tahoe on vacation. Swim was awesome with crystal clear and not too cold water, bike was....intense, and the run is really pretty. Well be vacationing in Downieville that same week this year, and the race is on our last day there...so I'm thinking of doing it again just to see how I've improved over the last two years.

it's very beautiful but 1000' evevation change on the first three miles of the bike are hard on these old legs
