Subject: Nice Buck

On saturday's ride I was about 6 miles from the truck.  On the rail trail that is my last 10 miles.  Out of the right jumps a young buck, nice rack uniformed rack still in vlevet.  He was about 30 feet in front of me and ran up the path for about 200 meters.  Never turned around , thank goodness, and jumped back off the trail and was gone.

I was it would have been cool to have one of those pro video cameras at the time.

I got within about 15 feet of a huge buck, "nice rack," on yesterday's trail run. I was rounding a corner when I heard what I thought was a horse 'blowing.' It was instead the aforementioned buck. I don't know who was more scared, him or me. He ran away. I continued on with an elevated heart rate.

Yes, when you get close enough to get a "buck snort" you know you're too close.  Luckily, they never want to fight.  Those hooves are razor sharp.  I mean, you saw what they did to that car in Tommy Boy.

I just had a close encounter with a buck, also with a nice rack, during my morning ride on Friday.  He bolted across the road about 15 ft in front of me.  He was haulin'.  Beautiful creature. I also wished I had a camera but more thankful he didn't hit me.
