Subject: 2017 Argon 18 E-80 or 2015 Orbea Ordu M30 | 105?
Hey there,

I'm switching from marathons to triathlons and have been trying a few bikes in my price range ($1500 - $2000).

The best fitting winners so far are 2017 Argon 18 E-80, 2015 Orbea Ordu M30 | 105, 2016 Kestrel 4000 | Shimano 105 and Cannondale Slice 105 | 2017.

As a layman, I have no idea how to pick. The Orbea sells for $200 less than the Argon, is 2 years older but MSRP'd for $500 more than the Argon. Would you generally advice to purchase an "older" bike that MSRP'd for significantly more, or to purchase the latest model?

Any help is much appreciated :-)

Thank you!

Best,
Kevin

You said they all fit, but which one feels best to you? They all have the same components, so that's a wash. Two years ago, I was in your shoes. I was between an Argon and a Fuji. I went with the Fuji, as it was about $300 less, even though the Argon rode a little bit better. The Fuji is fine, but I often wish I had spent the extra $300 for what felt like a slightly better ride.

I was wavering between the exact same two bikes. Well, actually a new-old-stock 2014 Argon 18 E80 (which is essentially the same as a 2017) and a very-slightly-used 2015 Ordu M30. I have an aluminum road bike that can be quite "buzzy" on the chip seal roads that are prevalent around here. While the aluminum Argon may or may not be the same way, I opted to poney up the little extra money for the Orbea, thinking I had a better chance for a good ride from a full carbon platform. While I never got to ride the Argon, I have no regrets with my decision. The Ordu has been great. It's smooth, fast, easy to wrench on (except the seat mount is a little fiddly), and gets a ton of compliments. It looks a lot more expensive than it really is.

Thank you very much! I'm most likely going to buy the Ordu as well... hope the full carbon platform is worth it
