what may help individuals that have busy weekday schedules is to lengthen your "workout week" from 7 to 9 days. i read that pros do this to prevent overtraining so they can focus on each workout with more accuteness rather then "junk miles." i'm personally doing this and find myself less stressed since some of my double workouts are now spread out, enabling me more rest.

This sounds very intriguing. So, if I start my workout week today (Sunday) I end it next Tuesday (2/11) and begin the new "week" on Wednesday (2/12)??? Sounds simple enough (if I got it right). Exactly what is the benefit here? I'm having a little trouble visualizing what I gain by doing this. I know it's there, I just can't grasp it.

I have been doing this for quite some time now. I have an 8 day work week and adapted my training schedule to accomodate it. Not sure how someone on a 7 day work week would do it though.

it really is up to you, personally. after the 9th day, you may want to take a full day off to allow your body to recover. during the week, you could have an "easy swim" after a difficult brick workout the proceeding day for example.
