who would like to participate this coming month? should we do the same format? fastest 5k, most miles? we could also do a first to 20 miles or something. most runs completed (regardless of distance)? thoughts on how to shake things up a bit to make it more interesting?

if you have participated before, please just post here (and maybe post the first half of your email address, so i remember who is who, since emails don't always match BT user names). if you are new to the challenge, please PM with your email and/or nike+ username so that i can add you to the challenge.

i wonder how many new folks we'll have after xmas?

Got one a few weeks ago but the calibration is still way screwy. Haven't gotten proper credit for a run yet. I'd be up for more of a distance type challenge as a speed demon I'm not. Will PM nike + login.

I'll be sending you my email as soon as I get the iPod set up.  It has been delivered to the office, but I don't feel like driving out in the snow to get it.

BTW--don't look to me to be setting any speed records.  I'm just want a motivation to run more often and these trinkets and challenges are right up my alley    .

there isn't an option for a collective challenge, so i thought we nano-ites could do our own. last month we almost made it to 300 miles. now we have a few new people, so despite the winter weather, i think we could make 300 for december. i'll keep count and give weekly reports here.

Ok, now I'm finally gonna really really participate this month. I've been slacking for numerous reasons but none are valid excuses. Except being sick for like 4 days over Thanksgiving but that's only 4 days out of a month. I just accepted the challenges. Thanks Autumn for setting this up every month. I'm glad that from the first 3 of us it looks like there's atleast 10 or so that will participate.

Hopefully I will be in that group joining you after Christmas. Just had lunch with my mom and she asked me what I wanted for Christmas....Ipod Nano Nike Kit, of course. (Just because I want Lance to tell me how far I have run )

Question:do you have to have the bigger (more expensive) memory or can you buy the $149 Nano and have it work? I probably won't be getting the nike's but will try to put it in my shoes somewhere.

See ya in January. Or, December 26th.

Yeah, any Nano will work. There are tons of links on how to put the sensor in non-Nike+ shoes. I'm thinking about doing that after I finish off these Nike shoes. i'll look around the mac site again and see what I can find for ya.

my 149 2GB nano works fine. I bought the "marware sportsuit relay" for like 30 bucks, and it has a little velcro pouch thing you can attach to any shoe, and the armband is great, it even has a little pouch for the sensor thing that goes into the bottom of the nano

calibrating it has sucked a big wet donkey pickle bc I am such an inconsistent runner... but that's clearly my issue, not the toy's

yea, recalibrate it asap. mine was off too. go to a track, or a place that has a set distance. mine was WORSE after the first calibration than it was out of the box, so it might take a couple of attempts.

True confession time- my Nano lied.

Recalibrated mine again yesterday by running 1 mile on the dreadmill after biking and then 1 more to check it. It matched the Gremlin(forerunner 301) at around the 1 mile point today so I put the Nano in my pocket and didn't look at it again for another 19 miles. Uh oh- the Nike+ claimed 23.8 miles for today's run. I really did a touch over 20 according to the mile markers on the Towpath and the GPS that I was using primarily for my run/walk intervals. What to do??

I would be interested in the answer to this as well.  I callibrated my nano (took me awhile), but I still don't believe what it is telling me.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I just had cervical fusion surgery two weeks ago today, so no running for me this month (probably no running until 2/1/07), though the doctor said I could start walking. Can that count towards the challenge? If so, count me in, my Nike+ login is the same as my BT login.

Time for me to get motivated and get moving again...

I did a personal best 5K today, but you'd never know it from my data.  iPod sent the workout, but Nike refuses to receive it.  Says the data cannot be verified by the server.  I'm so bummed.

I noticed that autumn had a best 5K on there but for the distance challenge there is no run data. The Nike+ servers are being weird for some reason. I haven't tried to log a run yet but I will tomorrow.

I'm not sure this was really ready for prime time.  I hope they get it fixed, cuz I love the concept.  It got me running today.

I think that the reason Autumn has a Best 5k and nothing in the distance challenge is because the challenges started a day apart. At least that's what happened me, my 5k logged in but nothing logged into the distance challenge until the next day.

Ooooooh. I didn't even notice that. I got both challenges the same day so I just figured they started at the same time. Well, off I go on my first December run. Its so damn cold!
