Veteran 228 Greenbelt, MD | Subject: RE: Proud Pink Peeps Hey guys. I'm Kelley, and although I'm a woman, pink is far from my favorite color, but they make for fun peeps, so I'm game. This is my 6th challenge I think (wow how time flies) and I'm psyched that it's a bike challenge since I just got a new bike last weekend. I'll mostly be riding it on the trainer unless the weather warms up, so I decided to go with a time goal. I believe I said my goal was 11 hours. That's a hair under what my training plan currently says, but since I'm likely to be changing plans come the middle of the month (I'm participating in a new triathlete program with my tri club that starts then), I didn't want to go overboard on the estimate. I'm glad to see alot of new names on the list (and a few people I've met in previous challenges). It's great to get to know so many new people! |

Pro 4216 Sous Mon Diadème | Subject: RE: Proud Pink Peeps Well hellllloooo, Pink (sparkly) Peeps. I'm Mila (it's pronounced MY-la, for inquiring minds). I like pink and I like to ride my pretty bike... which, not so coincidentally, has lots of pink on it. My goal for the month is at least 325 miles. I have one boy toy and three kids (10, 7 and 2). I live in Hotlanta so the weather's great for outdoor rides, but when it's not, I do actually enjoy my trainer *gasp*! It's the only time I ever get to watch movies or t.v. I also work for a fabulous health and fitness company where I handle a few indoor and outdoor cycling related things and am currently the RD for an upcoming indoor tri. I'm not yet sure what the season holds for me... I think Iron Girl in June, a sprint in August and a HIM relay or two with my relay team, Tri Candy (yep, I'm the cyclist... likely we'll do SC again in September and possibly one other). Finally, I have been known to break out a pink whip in a challenge thread or two if there's any slacking going on . |

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: Proud Pink Peeps Pink huh? Mila, did you have something to do with this? I suppose it'll just get me ready for the Giro and the maglia rosa. Anyway, I'm Bill and I've only been around for a few months, though I've got one summer of two sprints and an Olympic under my belt. My first challenge was as a member of Team T.I.T.S. and it really got me back on the bike. As a Swimming Rock in February I put some time in the pool that I didn't think was possible. Now, with my Olympic plan starting up in March, I'm counting on the pink whip to help me stick to it. I think I'm down for 16 hours, but I'm not sure if I counted spin classes or not. Either way, I'm looking forward to more sunlight and some better weather so I can break up with my trainer. She's getting a little overbearing. I've also got my first ever bike race this month. As in an actual race, not a big organized ride, coming up on March 15th. It's a 40km individual time trial. I think I'd be a hazard to everyone in a crit, but lets hear it for the Cat 5s! And hello again, Sandi. My perpetual team mate. Good to have you on board again. Finally. Kelley, please please please can we see that new ride? Edited by sesh 2008-02-29 8:25 AM |

A grad student in Vancouver and doing my first sprint tri on March 9. Still shopping for an olympic to do later in the season. I Started biking last July after having ACL surgery back in May and its my favorite of the three although apparently swimming is my strongest. In January I joined the Chicks Cycling Club (our colors are blue and gold ) an all womens cycling club here in Vancouver. I'm interested in trying some road races but I really don't want to crash and end up injured after just going through such a long recovery for my knee. But the group rides are a highlight of my week. i LOVE the whizzing and clicking sound that comes from riding in a group. I have a goal of 500km which is ambitious with family in town for a week and traveling for a few days at the end of the month. But I can pull it off. Lets get these peeps a rollin'!! |

I may have to re-pink my avatar ... but it's lovely and peepy and a good bit pinky and springy anyway, don't you think? The crocuses were blooming today! I'm just really excited to be here (in this team, in this world) ... I know most of you and am looking forward to getting to know the rest! About me ... well ... I still ride a bike with "Auntie Em" (cruiser bars), but I'll also die before I walk a hill. I'm in for 20 hours, but only 'cause I'm tapering for CA 70.3 at the end of the month, yippee! A little known fact about me is that I learned how to ride a bike (the same bike I still ride) for my first triathlon. |
