quite a few on here have done it...

You will get varied responses since it's a dallas athletes event,

I really like the course though.  maybe it's the beach start..
The psedo Oly  is really like a long sprint.. the swim which is 1500 yards  is always short,, they even admit it.  But I've had fun at it,, the awards usually go 10 deep, and only take 20 times longer than normal

If I'm up to it I'll be there

Done it twice, one time the course was considerably better than before. I won't be doing it this year, I'll be at El Scorcho the night before.

I'll be at El Scorcho watching Jonny... so I can't do the race.

I did it last year, but will be watching it from the sidelines this year. Thanks to a possible stress fracture at my marathon in May... I haven't been able to train for the 25K... so I have to pass.

AND... there is a 25K and 50K... we do the 25K (15 miles)... not that crazy.

You're still crazy in my book - in this heat? I haven't gotten used to it yet. (My first summer in Texas!)

Yea, but it starts at midnight so it's not as hot as it might be otherwise.

I'll be there.. 4th year for me. Like others have said, the quality is not the same each year. Sometimes it's good, others it just plain sucked. The beach start is great and there's not a whole lot of traffic to deal with on the bike. The chipseal is tough though.

I'm in for the OLY. This will be my first race this year and since IMKY.

Took way to much time off of training. This should be fun

WOW! Sorry to hear it!

I enjoyed the race last year! Especially since they give medals 10 deep in each AG! I was 10th in mine, ha! Like I always am, but this time I got a medal for it!

This is a good, fun race. Tom always puts on a good event. This was my 1st Tri last year and it was a blast! Chipseal is a little rough but otherwise a great race! Beach start is really cool too.  Wish I could do it this year but I will be in Cali for Vineman, my 1st Half!! Surprised

Sorry to hear about your crash, but glad you are still being involved.  Hope you didn't loose your entrance fee.

I wanted to Disco, but had already signed up for El Scorcho. I'll be up there, though, cheering on my training partners, one who's doing his first Oly and another going for his first OWS tri. As for me, I plan to sit in a beach chair submerged up to my shoulders under a big floppy hat and take a nap after the swimmers are on terra firma.

Yeah. I'm going to help my newbie friend get comfortable with the swim and the rest of the course - and I get a workout in.

So after trashing myself in yesterday's Peach Pedal, I didn't make it. Anyone got any reports on how it went?

It was pretty good. There were around 100 people over there. Dan was giving open water lessons, teaching us how to handle a running beach start, etc. The water was pretty calm and they had buoys set up for a 500 yard swim course. There was a transition clinic and then everyone left for a ride around the sprint bike course. The course has some decent hills and the road is pretty bumpy on the backstretch. The best part was the run, 3 miles of shaded trail. Dan answered nutrition questions, telling us how to handle pre-race nutrition and how much fluid we need to take. It was pretty informative!!!

Yeah it was a good time.  I am glad I missed the Peach Pedal!  It beat me down last year.
