Total Time = 1h 45m 35s
Overall Rank = 296/308
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 15/16
Pre-race routine:

water-water and water friday since the forecast said 28C. slept at my sister in law who was doing her first sprint tri. Had 2 PB&J slices of whole grain with a coffee for breakfast and a gel an hour before my start.

I was fully hydrated! (from 7 am to my race start i had to go pee 5 times...and no it was not the nerves!!!)
Swim
  • 16m 30s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 12s / 100 meters
Comments:

i was too conservative should have passed. my strokes were not good:not enough glide, not enough extension. felt out of whack
What would you do differently?:

be more agressive on the start and pass
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

got a bit of a problem getting clipped (since i ran in my shoes).
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 50m 20s
  • 22 kms
  • 26.23 km/hr
Comments:

new saddle did its job. kept a good tempo
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

was in a lunatic state and forgot my gel took way too much time, the heat was starting to get me
What would you do differently?:

electrolytes drink on the bike insted of water
Run
  • 38m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

it was noon when i got to the running part, it was 32C on the course. the legs were not responding well (electrolytes) but i was not thirsty or short of breath...just not moving!!! :)

What would you do differently?:

electrolytes and block the nagging voices in my head
Post race
Warm down:

walking

What limited your ability to perform faster:

heat and lack of training(running in the heat with fatigue in the mix).
But if I look at the big picture, I am improving. I am 6 minutes short of last years PR and did 2K more on the bike and longer transitions with the heat factor. The only thing that disapointed me is my swim.I just have to believe that i can run more.

Event comments:

the lunch was great and there was plenty of food.Should have brought $$ because a lot of dealers were there and with lots of great deals.

I beg to differ about the swim... you totally nailed it!

Good job on doing this race on such a short notice!

Good job Isabelle!

Great race! Nice pace on the bike, great job in the pool.. and with the temps & electrolyte issue, you completed the run, so it's all good.
