After leaving T1, how far is it to the bike mount line? I have cycling shoes and haven't felt the need to upgrade to tri shoes yet, and i don't want to run in my cycling shoes either. Is it possible to get a cheap pair of flops or crocs and discard them at the bike mount line? Any other suggestions regarding this? I also wear socks, and I heard somone mention before that they got theirs soaked going through some mud in that area.

It's a long run.  Cycling vs tri shoes doesn't make a difference and technically throwing a pair of flip-flops away would be abandonment of equipment.

Since you're not comfortable with your shoes already being clipped in, I'd suggest running to the mount line barefoot then stop off to the side and put your shoes and socks on there.

Are we allowed to have the shoes pre-clipped?  I know at some IMs only the pros are allowed, but didn't know if IMKY was the same.

Not looking to save time, just minimize the risk of falling.

I dont think you can have your shoes clipped in transition area. I dont remember if that was a rule from last year, but at L.P. that was not allowed shoes must be in bike bag.
