Subject: A Triathlon virgin, no more!! Last weekend in London, I completed my first triathlon...yay!!
25mins.....1hr 19mins.....30mins.....total 2.25 And before you think, wow that's pretty good for her first tri, it was a sprint! 750 metres swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run
The bike was always going to be my Achilles heel. I had to have two cycle lessons in May, yes it was May this year at the age of ** I had to have two remedial cycle lessons. So, I know that most of you would have done the bike in way less than half my time, but my achievement is that I didn't stop, just me and my gellopy of a mountain bike chugging and wobbling around the course. Luckily for the serious athletes out there they passed me pretty quickly so I was never going to be in their way.
I loved the swim and could have kept going...The wave was the biggest of the day and with 450 x 4 limbs flying around, I heeded the advice to stay to the back so not too many bruises!
It may not have been fast, it may not even have been pretty but I did it!! I was in the last wave of the day and even though they were just about turning out the lights when I returned, I was not last (just ) and it did not take away from the enormous sense of achievement.
I got some great advice to prepare from Beginner Triathlete, so thank you guys for getting me through it, even though you are thousands of miles away!
I am getting another one in before the end of the season, on 14th September, with a hilly 25 km cycle....bring it on
