I can sympathize. One week before my tri on Aug 24th
(my first tri!
) my back started to spasm really bad. I basically ignored it and took a lot of ibuprofen and did some stretching. Did my race
(fun!
) and then caught a cold so was out of training for a few days
(which means I forgot to do my stretching.
) By last Friday, I was in complete pain. My back was spasming and the pain was wrapping around my hips. Thought I'd throw up. Urgent Care gave me a shot of Tordol and some muscle relaxers but I knew that wouldn't really fix anything, just mask the pain. I went to a PT on Tuesday
(recommended by my Massage Therapist
) and while the PT work was PAINFUL it helped a lot. I'm going back tomorrow and hopefully with a few more sessions I'll be able to get a lot of my back issues worked out for good.
BTW, I tore muscles/tendons/ligaments/whatever in my back when I was a young thing
(26
) when I was unloading heavy equipment after a horse show and a tack box
(think of a 150# box with handles on each end
) slipped and jerked me forward. I was in so much pain I cried the entire time I was unhooking the horse trailer and driving home. The thing that really helped me was ultrasound. My chiro actually was the one to do it for me
(dr just said I should rest for a month.
) and within two weeks I was back riding horses
(I was a professional horse trainer at the time, so needed to ride to make $$$.
) You might see if you can get some ultrasound to help speed the healing process.
