Subject: Tell me about the WI tri scene - specifically Wausua & Stevens Point
I'll be moving to the Wausau area later next month and was wondering if someone could help me out with giving me the low down on the tri scene. What I'm wondering is if there are any tri-clubs or group rides / runs? Where are the good pools at? I'll be working at UWSP; I'm guessing they have a pool but any masters swim programs? Are there any good bike shops around? Good bike / run routes? Is there anyone in the area that is looking for a training partner?

I would check out the Woodson Y.  They put on a terrific triathlon every August.  While I don't know for sure, I am going to guess there are a bunch of triathletes behind it.

im pretty sure that uwsp has a triathlon club team so im sure if you contact them they would know the answers to any of your questions.

I live in Wausau. We don't have a Tri Club, but we do have a running club. The YMCA has a great Tri the frist weekend in Aug, very hilly. Point has the Lactic Edge Tri in July (flat) What part of Wausau are you moving to? I am near downtown so I swim at the Woodson YMCA, they open at 5am during the week. Weston also has a Y, not sure the hours. If you are going to be in Point I am sure they have swimming there.

If you are looking for someone to run and bike with I know the running club meets Saturday at 7am from downtown and 8am on Sunday out in Rib Mt. There used to be a group of bikers that would meet and go out for rides on Wednesday evenings but I work out in the early morning so I have never gone with them. As the weather get colder they usually start later.

 I like Rib Mt Cycle, they might be able to tell you more about group rides. There is a new Trek Bike store in town also, but I don't know much about them.

If you like winter sports we have a nice CC Ski are out in Rib Mt area, and Wausau has the Badger State Winter Games.

If you need any more info or ideas on places to run let me know.

Thanks for info. I'll actually be living in Athens but I didnt figure there would be much there being the town is so small. A lot of my workout schedule revolves around what time day care opens and to be honest I havent found one yet. Thanks again for the info and I'll have to check those places out when I get to town.
