Subject: sockless running shoe for over pronation?
I have gone though several different shoes from New Balance and currently have a Nike that I like pretty good, but the toe box is a little small and I get some irritation on my right foot while sockless. I want a good shoe as I am starting the 10 week training plan for my first half mary.

I am making the drive to a running store with a good rep after work today to get fitted. Anybody have any input on some of these brands they carry? new balance, brooks, ascics, mizuno and sacony...there may be a few others that I do not remember right now.

I want sockless with a wide toebox. I need something for over-pronation (I am very VERY flat footed).

I just want to do a little homework to make sure what they tell me is correct about the different shoes.

Thanks,
Jason

Any reason you're stuck on sockless?  I over-pronate and run in Adidas Adistar Control.  Heavy shoe, but does the trick!  Also had a pair of custom orthodics made.  All of this advice came straight from my sports doctor.  He also said that I can wear any sockless racing shoe I want when racing.  One day here and there won't make it worse.  But if its not a race, I'm in trainers with socks.

Guess it is not a "must have", but I just like the feel better. I ride my bike sockless too and just like the feel of more air and room around my toes.

Too bad I can't find it on-line, but this retailer...

www.nationalrunningcenter.com

...has a fantastic chart of all the shoes and their respective weights along with thier strengths and weaknesses.  It comes once or twice a year if you get on their mailing list.  Perhaps they'll email it to you if you call them?
