Beach Blast Tri

Looking to do that race myself after the Sandestin Tri in Aug.  I've heard good things about the beach blast.  I know a few people that did the one earlier this year and they said they had a good time. 

Considering the oly distance.  I know which hotels are listed on the website, but does anyone have any personal experience with any places down there?  Proximity to race site?  Price?  We are thinking of making a weekend out of it, cost permitting.

I'm actually going through Mexico Beach tomorrow and will see and ask about reasonable places to stay.  If you stay in PCB you'll have about a 45min drive in the morning to the race site.  I live here in PCB and if you're making a weekend it just depends on where you want to be.  Mexico Bch is quieter and PCB has more restaurants, etc.  I'll see what I get from friends and let you know.  Have a great 4th!

Yeah, we would stay down in Mexico Beach rather than PC.  We only live an hour north of PCB, so we can get down there anytime we want.  We aren't looking for the party scene.  I have been told that the El Governor is the place to stay, but I like to get as many different opinions as I can.  Thanks!  Good luck to anyone racing tomorrow.
