I was out for a ride today and I hit a few drainage ditches a little hard. I try to get up off the seat and pull up on the front end just boefore contact. After one of them I heard a little noise and realized that I think I lost a spoke. Yup...it was in there but hanging. This was about 2 miles from home. I slowly rode it home and now the wheel is not true....rubs against the frame. I have the spoke, looks like it came unscrewed. Can it be screwed back in and the wheel trued??
I am over 200lbs and am thinking maybe a more durable set of wheel might be needed....suggestions that dont cost an arm and a leg???
im 220 and rather hard on my wheels. i use the bontrager select or race. heavy pigs, but cheap and bombproof. you could also talk to the guys at OBC and see what they say. Talk to Frank or Steve, they will hook you up right. Carrie, the owner rides and has done a couple tris, she would be able to help you if you feel more comfortable taking advice from a woman.
