Subject: IMKY Hotels

I think I am going to do IMKY 2010 and have a friend who works at the Marriot and can get me a room for cheap but I want to make sure it is close to the race start/finish.

Has anyone stayed at any of the Marriott hotels in Louisville for the race?  It looks like there are a bunch of their hotel brands downtown so I am guessing they are close.  I  am probably going to the race solo so I don't want to have to walk to the race far.

Thanks for the advice.

The downtown Marriott is right near the finish line.  It may even be closer to the finish line than the Galt House.  However, it is about an extra 5 - 10 minute walk to transition vs the Galt House.  I stayed at the Galt House last year and my parents stayed at the Marriott (they used points).  They said it was your typical Marriott, and was a nice hotel.

    I stayed at the Marriott and it was great. 1 block to the finish and great place for spectators since they can walk to the turn around point for the marathon and finish line very easily and be able to go back to the hotel to hang out if they want.

    The walk to the transition after the race wasn't a big deal and I actually liked it because it got blood flowing to my legs. I went to transition after I ate, got a massage, and took and ice bath. It was a nice walk.

    GO KEN!!!! sign up.. do it...     I'm pretty sure david B also stayed at the marriott also,,,   with the transition being a short distance from the finish line there really is no hotel that is close to both.. well,,, maybe the Galt house, but not really...

    the distance is not that bad,  I stayed across the river in Ohio and it wasn't an issue for anything, (plus full kitchen)  I think marriot also had a place there also

    Thanks for the advice.  I guess I will be using my Friend's and Family discount which should be in the $70 range a night.  Can't really pass it up for a short walk considering I will be racing 140.6 miles.
