Subject: RE: Wool Capital - San AngeloI am and I did it two years ago. While Jack may be a bit over the top at his pre-race meetings.. if you've raced before don't mind him too much. ;p However the race it's self it one of the best. Given I like the low key, middle of nowhere sort of races. This year is regionals so it will be a bit larger than the past few years.
The swim is in a smooth, current free part of the river and is just an out and back. Bring tinted goggles as there is a good chance the sun will be directly in your eyes on the way back. I couldn't see anything at all on the way back on the swim.
The bike is mostly flat with 3 or so little climbs and a few miles that are a false flat. Once on the main road the road barely goes up for a few miles, so just keep that in mind since you will likely be a mph slower than expected. It's still a easy fast ride, just a simple out and back.
The run is where the fun is. It's out and back run on a sandy, dirty hilly road. You climb more on the way out, but it's hard to make up too much time on the down because of the loose sand. Given it could be hard and compact this year, or really muddy. So be mentally ready for a tougher than normal run. |
