Subject: question about swim "warm-up"
So I'm really realizing how important it is to get in a good warm-up before I swim.

BUT - I was looking at the time table for my tri.

Elite swim wave starts 6:45am
*my* swim wave starts 8:10am

if I were to warm up at 6:15/6:30 before the elites, would I still have ANY benefit from it by 8:10???  Seems kinda odd....

probably better off just running for 5-10 mins at a really easy pace closer to when you start.  this will get your blood flowing and HR up a little bit.

can you warm up closer towards your wave after the elite's go?  Is it a pool start or a lake start?  Dunno who says you can't jump in the lake in an area that isn't hindering the racers.

it's a lake start.  The lake is...pretty gross (well, not too bad - but I want my boyfriend to get a picture of me next to the "no swimming" sign at the entrance to the swim!)

There are waves ever 5 min from the elite start to my start, so I kinda think the lake will be pretty full...

In the lake swims I've done, there has always been room off to the side to warm up.  Worst case scenario -- get in the lake just after the wave before you; you'll still get 5 minutes of warm-up.
