Anyone out there doing Angel's race on Sunday in Clemmons, NC.

What's your opinion of how they are doing the pool swim. Looks like they are letting all the VIPs, Sponsors, and members of a local Tri club go first, followed by the women's age groupers, and then the mens age groups with 15 seconds between each starter.

I competed in a race that did the same thing earlier in the year, and it was a real fiasco ...

I know I am venting a bit, but I won't be starting until 10 AM at a race were the first starter goes off at 8 AM ... that's just an awful long wait. And considering how short the course is, about 1/2 the field will be done before I even start. You just start losing your enthusiasm after standing around for 2+ hours.

I only live a few miles from the race site, and would go home after getting my chip and all, but your kind of captive in the park once you get there..

I'm in the same boat as you... if I thought I get get an easy ride back, I'd go back home and go back to bed!

Also, if you really think about it, I'm not really sure how this "speeds things up". Oh well, maybe it'll have at least warmed up a little by the time we get in the water. With all of the cooler temps, and rain, I bet it'll be freezing.

I also have a 10 am start time.  This is my first one though, so I really have nothing to compare it to.

Do I need to be there for several hours prior then, or can I show up around 9?

I think the transition area closes at 7:30 and you'll need to pick up your chip and get marked. You should probably plan to be there no later than 6:45 at the latest.
