Plantar Faciitis - is there swelling ?

It can. It's an inflammatory disorder of the plantar fascia becoming inflamed and creating scar tissue in the area (simplified generalization). The scar tissue is that "grainy" feeling you get in areas with plantar facitis.

BUT I'm not diagnosing you since I'm not there to examine you. If it keeps bothering you go see a Doc/PT so that you can get a real diagnosis because it could be several different things.

i dont have foot problems.. this has never happened before.. and I have no way of knowing what it is.. just saying ..

muscle pulls and knee issues ? sure .. i am an expert.. but actual foot issues ? i know nothing..

I feel your pain. I have the exact same symptoms and it has been really bad the last week. I am making a Dr appt this week, because at times it becomes tough to even walk. I have been dealing with it for about 3 months, but it has gotten really bad this past week.

The problem is that no one online can touch you and examine you. It's hard to pin down a single diagnosis without examining and receiving a fill history from a patient. There are several possible ailments that would fit your limited description.
