Well if the God's allow it (meaning I get a slot), I'm going to run my first Sprint tomorrow AM.

750/15mi/5K - Didn't seem that daunting until I told myself I'd do it.

When I asked a friend and Uber Triathlete his response was..."What's the down side?"

I know I can make the swim in reasonable time. The Bike I'll survive, and I know I can't Drown or get run over on the run (heck I can walk). Here's the confession...I've been able to train mostly two of the three components regularly. My training has been consistantly inconsistant. I'm approaching this mostly as a throw away race to get an open water swim in race conditions in (prior to my oly in Oct) and to really see how transitions work out after practicing them.

There are a great number of stories on this site about people doing this for the first time. I had hoped I was a little better trained (plenty of posts about that too) but I'm starting to realise this is a personal sport. More about having fun testing yourself than about competition.

As for the AM....if it happens I know I'll post a Personal Best..the next question is where do I go from here.

Here's a shout out THANK-YOU to all you folks here. I'll letcha know if I get a slot and how it comes out.

I'll post a race report, but I survived and had a blast doing it. The swim was a washing machine for 15 minutes, the bike totally rocked and the run...well the run happened despite my knee issue which came up late in the bike.

Whoohoo!! Way to go, Triathlete!  Sounds like a great experience and prep for your October Oly.  Looking forward to the rr.  I hope your knee issue doesn't become a real injury.

I agree with you that BT has been a great thing for me to read other's experiences and be inspired to challenge myself personally, and actually train for this.  Hey, if you're looking for some motivation and competition to instigate consistency in your training, check out the August Challenge in the "Challenge Me" forum.  It did wonders for my training during July!

Glad you actually got to race today.
