Hey everyone...totally new to site and the idea of triathlons...got inspired after a buddy of mine jst finished one. Ive been into strength training for some time, and have always done a bit of running along with that, but feel its time to push myself in a new direction.

That said, I'm looking to start on a program which allows me to train for some 'medium' distance races while still provding me time to strength train a few days a week. Im sure some of you have tackled this predicament of balancing strength training with endurance training, as it seems necessary to have both in this sport.

So, I was wondering if you all might be able to give me some input on a start-up program for someone like myself. Your ideas would be much appreciated. Look forward to talking to you all!

I'll beat Ron to the punch and tell you to look at

There are several training programs to look at. In the meantime, welcome to the obsession, I mean the addiction, I mean the sport!!

sounds like your background in strength and a little running is kinda like mine...you will make the transition easily.  GOOD LUCK!
