Pre-race routine:

2-3-06

Here I am just a couple of days from the Pacific Shoreline Half Marathon. I have done this race many times and it is "by far" my favorite half marathon. Just last month I PR'd at the Orange County Half Marathon with a 1:29:27 (6'50" per mile pace)

If I am feeling good this Sunday, I am going to try and even pace at 6'45" per mile. If I am able to hold this pace, I will set another PR! We shall see...
Event warmup:

Ran about a mile easy to loosen things up and get the motor running
Run
  • 1h 29m 13s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 06m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was to go out even paced and to hold 6'45" pace. I was doing mostly 6'48" to 6'50"s. I started the race with some fast friends towards the front. I let them go, but had both in my sights most of the race
Post race
Warm down:

Walking about a mile to the car, light stretching, and the knowledge that I would be doing Yoga on Monday night

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Undigested food in my stomach

Event comments:

I ran a personal best half marathon of 1:29:13. I am very pleased that I can deliver this sort of time on very limited running training. The Pacific Shoreline is my very favorite half marathon. It is a terrific venue and and a well run race. Very fun to see so many people I know in one day...

Course: Pacific Shoreline is a relatively flat race, that has some fun little hills just to keep you honest. It runs along the Pacific Coast Highway and it is a real treat to be able to run on both sides of the highway for his race as it aleviates the runners traffic jams
