Comments: No comment, no excuses. Penance begins tomorrow. Transition 1
Comments: A top-ten T1 time, but should have been faster. Bike
Comments: Faster than last year, so I guess that's something. My heart wasn't really in it. Transition 2
Comments: Same story as T1. Run
Comments: Yeah, it really was that bad. I just didn't care. I ran just hard enough to make sure that the guys behind me didn't catch me. Other than that, pretty lackluster. I guess my run really does completely suck right now. Not much I can do about it until I'm fully healed. Post race
Warm down: Rode home and showered. Then to Samuel and James' birthday brunch, which was fun. What limited your ability to perform faster: Motivation. I would rather have been training today. Event comments: Bike course safety was much better this year. The only real problems were with inexperienced cyclists riding three abreast into a couple of the turns. Woke up. Gel for 'breakfast'. Rode over to the race.
After I got set up I saw a guy with goggles in his pocket, which sort of triggered the realization that I had left my goggles at home, so my warmup consisted of riding back home pretty hard, and back to the course.
