Subject: website development / hostingIt is really sad - I have a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and designed websites for extra cash in 1995/1996. Now, 16+ years later, I'm starting my own company and have spent about 6 hours today trying to get a simple website up and running. I bought my URL from godaddy.com, and bought a hosting package. I spent 3+ hours this morning looking at Wordpress templates and trying to figure out a layout / design I liked. Finally found one from themeforest.net, and wasted about 45 minutes trying to actually purchase it. (not a fan of paypal) After all that failed, ended up just buying a "design package" from godaddy.com. Which wasted another 30 minutes because it turns out I didn't need a "hosting package" when i bought a "design package." I swear, it would have been easier to hire a local s/w guy to put this together instead of the 6+ hours I've spent building this site. Any tips / suggestions for going forward on this? I have a bare-bones site now loading to go live on the interweb, but will probably upgrade it in a few months when I have more operating income. |
