Hello everyone!

I figure it is about time for me to stop lurking. I have been on Beginner Triathlete since the beginner of January 2013, but I wasn't officially a triathlete until Sunday when I completed my first sprint tri.

I have been running for a number of years, starting originally for weight loss but now running to beat my personal records. I have run all the distances between 5k to the marathon, including the 2013 Goofy Challenge. As a runner, I cross trained on a bike, and even did some aqua jogging. However, swimming was and still isn't my strong suit. I struggled to get 25m, but after joining a local masters swim club, I am slowly increasing the distance. Currently, I am swimming 100m 4-6 times for main sets.

I am in the Central Florida area, so I can race tris or runs almost year round. I plan on completing another sprint tri and either an international or olympic tri this summer before the fall/winter running season gears up.

The first tri was an eye opener, showing my some strengths I didn't know about as well as revealing a lot of weaknesses. Mike Ricci and Beginner Triathlete are due the credit for getting me to the start line and also to the finishing line. I am glad there are still great coaches out there because I have had some bad ones. I look forward to learning more from Mr. Ricci, Beginner Triathlete, and everyone on here.

Oh yeah, if there is anyone in Central Florida, Orlando/St Cloud area, that wants a training partner, just let me know!

Good luck to everyone.

God Bless.....Thomas

No, have not yet posted in the Florida forum. I only got a couple of the posts I wanted to put up down before real life took over. Got everything done now, so I'll make sure to get a post up in the Florida forum.

Thanks!

Welcome!  You are in a fairly busy area for tri's. I know there are a few masters programs out there to get you in the pool more, if you can make the commitment.  And the Clermont area is full of bike riders. I'm sure you can find some training partners in no time.

Hello cdban66. I found a swim coach right off when I started to train because I could barely make 25m. He helped me out for a couple of sessions before moving me to the masters swim group. I also was provided information on the Central Florida Tri Club and JHOP, but both groups are half and full iron trainings. Eventually I will be at those distances, but I was looking for something a little shorter and less intense. You are right, as since the post I learned about the Celebration Cyclist group that has A thru C level riders as well as the St Cloud Cyclist, a multi-level group as well. Hopefully, other central Florida triathletes will find this info helpful as well.
