Subject: Intro: Central Florida Runner to TriathleteHello everyone! I figure it is about time for me to stop lurking. I have been on Beginner Triathlete since the beginner of January 2013, but I wasn't officially a triathlete until Sunday when I completed my first sprint tri. I have been running for a number of years, starting originally for weight loss but now running to beat my personal records. I have run all the distances between 5k to the marathon, including the 2013 Goofy Challenge. As a runner, I cross trained on a bike, and even did some aqua jogging. However, swimming was and still isn't my strong suit. I struggled to get 25m, but after joining a local masters swim club, I am slowly increasing the distance. Currently, I am swimming 100m 4-6 times for main sets. I am in the Central Florida area, so I can race tris or runs almost year round. I plan on completing another sprint tri and either an international or olympic tri this summer before the fall/winter running season gears up. The first tri was an eye opener, showing my some strengths I didn't know about as well as revealing a lot of weaknesses. Mike Ricci and Beginner Triathlete are due the credit for getting me to the start line and also to the finishing line. I am glad there are still great coaches out there because I have had some bad ones. I look forward to learning more from Mr. Ricci, Beginner Triathlete, and everyone on here. Oh yeah, if there is anyone in Central Florida, Orlando/St Cloud area, that wants a training partner, just let me know! Good luck to everyone. God Bless.....Thomas |
