Last night I swam my first workout in my new Tyr Jammers. These are 'speedo' (tightness) style shorts but the length of cycling shorts. I really didn't figure it would make that much of a difference compared to my swim trunks (medium length baggy short style) but I could really feel a difference. The trunks I was using had turned from royal blue to gray due to the chlorine levels in the pool I swim in, which was the main reason I bought a new style. The reduced drag seemed to allow me to "feel" the water much better. I would say that the other brands would work just as well as Tyr, it just happened to be the brand I bought.

i used the jammers today and feel the same about them - tight fit makes you feel fast w/o looking like youre smuggling grapes on the pool deck - drag is def reduced as well, esp versus baggy swim trunks which is actually better for developing technique. i wld recommend them or another brand with a similar style.

Cameron,

They are more like cycling shorts, and no you don't have to wear them. That is the great thing about this sport you can wear whatever you want (I do thing there are anti nudity clauses in alot of races though.) I only put in this review because these cover much more than speedo's but still have alot less drag than trunks.

Thanks Craig and riggler. I will just have to get over it :-) Thanks for this tip because I think I could handle this type of short.
