Subject: RE: Pedals & ShoesI would endorse the Shimano Click'r system for someone who's just stepping up to clipless pedals, especially on a lower intensity bike like a hybrid. They're designed to be easier to get in and out of than a traditional (i.e. SPD ) pedal.
The PD-T400 pedals are what I have on my entry level road bike. They're available for ~$30-40 on Amazon. I'm thinking of getting a set of the PD-T420's for my "hybridized" mountain bike; they have a cleat lock on one side and a flat surface on the other for use with regular shoes. Those are a little over $50.
I got a set of Click'r shoes, too, which aren't exactly cheap. However, I'm pretty sure the cleats that come with the pedals will work on virtually any cycle shoe that has the usual two-bolt mounting system. |
