Actor Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, has done a series of political ads supporting candidates who favor stem cell research. But Rush Limbaugh called Fox a faker.

Maybe Rush's ratings are down (and, therefore, his income is down) and he felt the need to say something stupidly provocative to get people talking about his irrelevant show. The mood of the country has changed; verbal bullying is not as hot as it was in the 90s. 

I think that's the most likely explanation - he wants to be in the news again.
